Awards & Certificates
In 2006 we were awarded the Pearsons Prize for "Best Restoration Project" in Britain and Ireland.
This was for our work on the restoration of stained glass windows for the Former Wesleyan Methodist Church on St. Laurence´s St., Drogheda Co. Louth and was sponsored by Pearsons Glass, Liverpool and Glashuette Lamberts, Germany.
Glasshaus studio is spearheaded by Tomas and Liam McCorkell who founded the studio in response to a growing demand for specialist art glass in Ireland. Liam McCorkell has studied at the world renowned Architectural Glass Department of Swansea Institute, graduating with a BA/Hons. in Architectural Stained Glass. He has also studied in Finland, Germany and France and has over 20 years experience in the field.
Our staff are continually seeking ways to advance our skills and knowledge and we attend courses at the Stained glass conservation department at York University to up-skill and keep on top of new advances in our chosen medium.
At Glasshaus we are registered as a specialist contractor with Heritage Contractors. All contractors must be approved by the Heritage Registration Board. The Heritage Registration Board includes representatives from the Department of Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands, the Office of Public Works, the Heritage Council, the Irish Georgian Society, Dublin Institute of Technology and the Construction Industry Federation.
